Legendary boss congratulates former player after skippering country to sensational final victory over France in Paris

SIR ALEX FERGUSON looked like a proud father he embraced Cristiano Ronaldo following Portugal’s Euro 2016 triumph.
The legendary Manchester United boss waited to congratulate his former player after trophy presentation at the Stade de France.

Ronaldo — who had to be substituted after 25 minutes of the final following a knee injury — had skippered Portugal to their first-ever major success.
And Ferguson made sure he was there to congratulate the superstar on his triumph.
Hosts France were expected to come out victorious in Paris, and were given a huge boost when Portugal’s star man was forced off with injury following a clash with Dimitri Payet.
However, Fernando Santos’ men regrouped and held firm.
The match finished 0-0 after full-time — and Swansea flop, Eder, netted the only goal after 108 minutes.
Ronaldo played under Ferguson at United for six seasons from 2003 to 2009, winning three Premier League titles, an FA Cup, two League Cups, one Champions League and an Intercontinental Cup.
He joined Real Madrid for a then world-record fee of £80million.
