Seven footballers who played for both Man Utd and City like Tevez and Schmeichel as Cristiano Ronaldo nears transfer

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Cristiano Ronaldo has been strongly linked with a move to rivals Manchester City ahead of transfer deadline day.
Ronaldo left the Juventus training center earlier this day and did not take part in practice after bidding farewell to his team-mates and is now expecting his agent Jorge Mendes to bring a concrete City bid forward.
The star forward has a verbal agreement with the Citizens and if he moves to the blue side of Manchester then this is sure to anger United fans, especially after he insisted on at least two different occasions that he would never move to the Etihad.
But it does seem highly likely that the Portugal international is going to go down the same path as seven former Red Devil favourites who switched allegiances throughout the years.
Let's take a closer look at them:
Carlos Tevez
Carlos Tevez's move from United to City was probably the most dramatic of them all throughout the years.
Tevez spent two scintillating seasons at Old Trafford where he won two successive Premier League titles as well as the 2008 Champions League trophy.
The legendary forward also formed a stunning trio up front with Wayne Rooney and Ronaldo.

However, once the Argentine's deal ran out in 2009 he fell out with the red side of Manchester by switching allegiances to City.
The former Juventus superstar then spent four turbulent years at the Etihad as he became the second fastest player to reach 50 goals for the club but was then axed from the squad after refusing to come on as a substitute until his eventual return four months later.
Peter Schmeichel
Peter Schmeichel was one of United's main protagonists of the famous 1998-1999 treble season.
After five Premier League titles, three FA Cup trophies and the famous Champions League triumph in 1999, Schmeichel left for Sporting Lisbon.
The Great Dane returned to the Prem two years after United's success in Europe for Aston Villa and then made waves by joining Manchester rivals City for a season in 2002.
Schmeichel extended his undefeated record in Manchester derbies as he never lost a game against United after his switch to Maine Road.
But he is still remembered as arguably the best goalkeeper to ever play for the Red Devils.
Andy Cole
Andy Cole joined United from Newcastle in 1995 for a then British transfer record of £7million.
When Eric Cantona left two years later, Cole became the one to lead Sir Alex Ferguson's attack by forming a stunning duo with Dwight Yorke.
The legendary striker was also among the main protagonists of the Red Devils' treble success and stayed at Old Trafford until 2001.
The former England international then joined a lot of different Premier League teams but none of his moves caused a bigger stir than the one he made to City in 2005.
Cole spent one year with the Citizens and finished the campaign as the team's top scorer.
Denis Law
Unlike the previous three United legends, Denis Law started out at City in 1960 before moving to Torino a year later for a record transfer fee for a British player.
Law returned to Manchester in 1962 but opted for the Red Devils instead where he spent 11 scintillating years and helped the club to their first league title since the Munich disaster.
The legendary striker returned to City in 1973 but that wasn't the biggest heartbreak United fans endured from that switch.
That came soon after when the Scottish great famously scored a backheel on the final day of the season that doomed his former team to relegation.
Owen Hargreaves
Owen Hargreaves joined United from Bayern Munich in 2007 but his three-year stint at Old Trafford was plagued by injury.
However, that didn't stop Hargreaves from becoming an instrumental part of the Red Devils' 2008 Champions League success.
The former midfielder's contract expired in 2011 and he turned down an offer from West Brom.
That led the former England international to rivals City where he scored on his debut but only managed one Premier League appearance until his release at the end of the season
Brian Kidd
Brian Kidd, a native Mancunian, started out in United's academy before being promoted to the first team in 1967 and went on to score 52 goals in 203 appearances.
Following the club's relegation in 1974, Kidd joined Arsenal but returned to Manchester two years later, this time for City.
The legendary forward enjoyed a prolific three-year stint at Maine Road with a total of 44 goals in 98 appearances.
The former England international continued to switch around Manchester after the end of his career as he was hired as the Red Devils' youth coach in 1988 before becoming Ferguson's assistant three years later.
Kidd then returned to the Citizens as he became part of the coaching staff in 2009.
Terry Cooke
Terry Cooke also started out in United's academy but struggled to break into the first team as he was loaned out to Sunderland, Birmingham and Wrexham.
Cooke was also significantly overshadowed by the emergence of David Beckham and was thus restricted to a mere eight first-team appearances.
Thus, the midfielder joined City on loan in 1999 and was signed on a permanent following a £1m deal between the Manchester rivals.

Cooke helped the Citizens secure promotion to the top flight that year before leaving in 2002 after another series of loan moves.
