Brazilian side Flamengo and Mario Balotelli's Adana Demirspor have both been linked with a move.

But Luiz could be given the chance to remain in Europe's top leagues with a stay in southern Italy.

Salernitana are expected to negotiate the deal with the player's representatives this week, according to Italian journalist .

Following promotion to Serie A, the Salerno club have already landed former Bayern Munich and France star Franck Ribery.

The 38-year-old has agreed terms with the Granata and will undergo a medical on Monday.

Luiz has previously outlined his ambition of fighting for trophies as he reaches the twilight of his career.
