DEAN HENDERSON wants to quit Manchester United at the end of the season if he can't reclaim the No1 spot from David De Gea, according to reports.

And Newcastle are reportedly willing to swoop for the £120,000-a-week goalkeeper.

Henderson has played just once this season - the 1-0 League Cup defeat to West Ham - having battled De Gea for the No1 jersey last campaign.

But De Gea has been in fantastic form since the summer and Henderson has barely got a sniff.

Henderson has been left out of Gareth Southgate's England squad for the third time in a row and he is said to be determined to be included for the 2022 World Cup.

And if he is still not in the United team by the end of the season, he will seek a move away from Old Trafford to make it happen, according to the .

Henderson, 24, played 26 times for the Red Devils last season.

But he tested positive for Covid in July and missed pre-season after it took him longer than expected to recover from the virus.

Tom Heaton also returned to the club over the summer which has only added to the competition for a spot.

Henderson would reportedly prefer to stay at United but fears his career may 'stagnate' if he stays put.

The former Sheffield United loanee signed a four-and-a-half year, £120k-a-week deal last August.

Although he would consider leaving in January, United are unlikely to sanction a mid-season departure.

Club staff are delighted by De Gea's improvement, but they are wary of an injury or a dip in form and want Henderson to call upon as cover.

Newly-rich Newcastle said to be eyeing a move although it looks like they may have to wait until the end of the season.
