Tottenham 1 Sunderland 0: Harry Kane nets winner before leaving the field on a stretcher after nasty-looking ankle injury as Spurs move up to third in league

HARRY KANE finally penetrated Sunderland's pink and and purple wall to send Tottenham up to third.
But he was then carried away on a stretcher with a nasty-looking ankle injury late in the game.
Spurs threatened to batter the visitors the same colour as their grimly garish shirts, but David Moyes' men held out until Kane slotted home from close range on 59 for his first goal at White Hart Lane since March.
Dele Alli nodded down Kyle Walker's cross and Kane fired past Jordan Pickford after £8million former Chelsea defender Papy Djilobodji failed to clear.

Spurs had 19 shots in the first half but Steven Pienaar had the best chance of the lot before Walker rescued the hosts by clearing off the line.
Kane then pounced to leave his own team unbeaten in the Prem and the Black Cats with just a point from five games.
But he was replaced after his ankle buckled when lunging to make a challenge late in the game, with Adnan Januzaj then dismissed for a second yellow is the dying moments.
FACTS, STATS, GOALS AND LOLS
- Djilobodji? Djilo-bodger more like as the Sunderland defender’s slip gifted Kane’s Tottenham opener in the 59th minute.
- Spurs are unbeaten in their opening five League matches for the first time in 12 years.
- The last Sunderland keeper to keep a clean sheet at White Hart Lane was Chris Turner in September 1980.
- Who'd be a left-back? First Ben Davies was replaced in the Tottenham team by Jan Vertonghen, then Patrick Van Aanholt was pulled out of the Sunderland line-up at late notice by boss David Moyes in favour of Jason Denayer who was then deployed at right-back.
- The North East may have some of the cheapest houses in the UK but the garden sheds there must cost a fortune as, according to Sunderland they are bigger than White Hart Lane and have a door and a window.
- Work on Tottenham’s new stadium continued even on a Sunday. With all those overtime payments no wonder it is costing £400million to build.
- Steven Pienaar never did get much playing time during his time at White Hart Lane, maybe that is why he was trying to run the clock down with still FIFTY-EIGHT MINUTES of normal time remaining.
- Maybe the former Spurs and Everton man should practice his finishing instead of his clock-watching as he wasted a glorious chance to give the Black Cats the lead on the stroke of half time when his scuffed hot was comfortably blocked on the line by Walker.
- Son Heung-min showed why he kept his place in the team as he delivered a fine performance which saw him hit the post in the first half with a 20 yard shot.
- If Tottenham had their shooting boots on they would have won this by four or five at least.

WHAT THEY SAID
Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli: "We always look to bounce back after a defeat. The game against Monaco was a hard one to take.
"Maybe we should have seen this game off sooner. We were dominating. We felt comfortable and felt we needed to be patient. We knew a chance would come and thankfully it did."
Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford: "It was disappointing, we had a lot of defending to do but Tottenham are a good side.
"We had a couple of chances in the first half and could have scored.
"It's not ideal to be too busy as a keeper but making saves is my job. I just felt up for it, I always do. A save is a save at the end of the day."
