‘He had problems with EVERYONE’ – Mesut Ozil’s ugly Arsenal exit broken down by former team-mate Nacho Monreal

MESUT OZIL had "problems with everyone" at Arsenal, according to former Gunners defender Nacho Monreal.

The German playmaker spent the latter stages of his Arsenal career being left out of squads and receiving criticism from the club's supporters as he continued to pick up his £350,000 a week wages without playing.

And Monreal, who spent seven seasons alongside Ozil at Arsenal, admits the player was a major issue.

Speaking to , he said: "Ozil’s problem is that he had problems with everyone.

"It ended badly with Wenger, he didn’t play the last few games with him, then Emery tried to bring him back and make him our leader.

"To begin with, he gave him a lot of confidence and Mesut played a lot, but the coach understood there were other team-mates who were in better condition.

"Ozil was one of the best players in the team, one of the best paid, but they saw he wasn’t at the level required.

"As a person, he was good with everyone, but he also missed a lot of games through injury."

Ozil scored 44 goals and assisted 77 more during his seven-and-a-half year spell with Arsenal.

He eventually joined Turkish side Fenerbahce in January 2021, but that has now turned sour too.

Ozil was been AXED from the Istanbul club's squad indefinitely for an alleged "verbal altercation".

Ozil captained Fenerbahce in their 2-1 home win over Konyaspor earlier this month.

But he was hooked at half-time, with reports suggesting the "unhappy" German was involved in a row with interim manager Ismail Kartal.

And the Turkish side confirmed Ozil would not be playing again for the foreseeable future because of his shock removal.

Fenerbahce : "Mesut Ozil and Ozan Tufan have been dismissed as a result of the decision taken. It'll be made public."
