It was thought he could be out for the long-term after a recurrence of a knee problem he suffered last season.

But scans taken over the weekend have shown the 25-year-old will be missing for around 15 days, according to.

Arsenal had feared he could have ruptured a ligament, causing him to miss months of the season.

Coquelin has been a revelation since breaking into the Gunners first-team two seasons ago.

But fans have been calling on Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to drop him and play Granit Xhaka.

Coquelin has made 74 appearances for the Emirates outfit since joining their academy in 2008.
