Sam Allardyce won on debut, earned £500k and left without a pay-off… all in just 67 days in charge

IN case you hadn't noticed, Sam Allardyce is no longer England manager.

He was in charge for 67 days. Blink and you might have missed it.

On July 22 after an extensive search, Allardyce - an experienced manager of eight clubs and more than 950 matches - was appointed to take over from Euro 2016 flop Roy Hodgson.

On September 27, just 67 days and one game later, Allardyce's England career lies in tatters.

Allardyce now has shortest spell in charge of any of the permanent England managers.

At least he can claim to have the highest winning percentage, and he banked over half a million during his short reign.

Allardyce can always be proud of his 100 per cent record - no one else has above Fabio Capello's 67 per cent.

Here, SunSport charts the highs and lows of Allardyce's extremely brief England spell.

HIGH

July 22, 2016 - Allardyce is appointed England boss after a long search following the abysmal failure at Euro 2016, becoming the best-paid boss in international football.

His annual salary will be £3million.

He calls it "absolutely the best job in English football".

He also promises to "do everything I can to help England do well... above all, we have to make the people and the whole country proud."

HIGH AS A KITE

September 4, 2016 - Slovakia 0 England 1

It may have been a truly boring game played against a Slovakian defence that had 10 men for the final 30 minutes, but Allardyce won his first game in charge.

Adam Lallana scored a neat goal in the 95th minute to give the Three Lions three points.

LOW, SO VERY, VERY, VERY, VERY LOW

September 26, 2016 - In an undercover sting, The Daily Telegraph reveals that Allardyce was trying to land £400,000 in a deal to help bogus businessmen get round third-party ownership rules.

ROCK BOTTOM

September 27, 2016 - Allardyce quits as England manager, stating he is "deeply disappointed" at the outcome.
