Manchester United transfer news: Jose Mourinho and Manchester City boss to battle it out for Real Madrid star Toni Kroos
Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola desperate to sign German midfielder and will go to war to bring him to England

JOSE MOURINHO and Pep Guardiola are set to battle it out for Real Madrid star Toni Kroos, according to reports.
The German midfielder has long been linked with a Premier League switch and famously snubbed Manchester United when he joined Real from Bayern Munich in 2014.
However, Kroos is said to be disgruntled in Spain and could be tempted by a move to England.
United would give him the platform to perform alongside world-record signing Paul Pogba, while joining Manchester City would see him reunited with Guardiola – even though the tactician sanctioned his Bayern exit.
And Spanish journalists are adamant the English giants will compete for Kroos’ signature, with the World Cup winner seen as a vital target for both sides.
Speaking on TV show El Chiringuito, Pipe Estrada predicted: “A war of two great coaches of international prestige, Guardiola and Mourinho, for a player, a player of Real Madrid: Toni Kroos.

“The two managers believe that he may be key to their future because of his tactical position on the field and because he is vital for the continuity of their projects.”
One United icon who would be delighted with the capture of Kroos is Paul Scholes, who has long urged the club to open their cheque book and splash the cash.
The BT Sport pundit recently said: “I think Mourinho should go into the market for a controlling midfielder, who can control where Paul Pogba goes and control the game.
“I think they still need that type of player. A Luka Modric or a Toni Kroos, and I think these players are available.”
