Leeds complete £20million transfer of RB Leipzig star Tyler Adams to replace Man City new-boy Kalvin Phillips
LEEDS have completed the signing of midfielder Tyler Adams from RB Leipzig for £20million.
The American becomes the Whites’ fifth summer signing and is a replacement for Kalvin Phillips, who joined Manchester City for £45m.
Adams, 23, has spent his entire career in the Red Bull group, starting his career in New York before spending four seasons with Leipzig.
The defensive midfielder was handed his debut by Leeds’ American boss Jesse Marsch in New York and also played under him in Germany.
Capped 30 times by the US, Adams penned a five-year deal at Elland Road.
Leeds have now spent £70m, with Adams joining fellow American Brenden Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen, Marc Roca and youngster Darko Gyabi joining Adams at the Yorkshire club.

And they are close to landing flying Feyenoord winger Luis Sinisterra for around £25m.
Speaking after his move was made official, Adams has revealed his delight at linking up with the Yorkshire outfit.
He told the : "I am super excited.
“Walking in for the first time, meeting people today at the training ground and coming to the stadium, which is empty now, but I can’t wait to play in front of a full crowd!

“I know a little bit about the club. I watched the documentary which is quite popular and I was able to learn a lot of important things about the club.
“The one thing for me is the passion of the fans and the city, what it requires to be a Leeds United player.
“So far what I have heard is that it’s electric here.
"Talking to my friends who have played in the Premier League, they say it’s one of the best atmospheres they have ever played in.
“Now to have those fans supporting me, it’s going to be something special.”
