Slovakia 3 Scotland 0: Gordon Strachan’s side suffer crushing World Cup qualifying defeat

SCOTLAND suffered a disappointing World Cup qualifying defeat to the hands of Slovakia.
The hosts took the lead when Robert Mak rifled the ball home after 18 minutes when David Marshall parried Marek Hamsik's effort into a crowded penalty area.
But Gordon Strachan felt aggrieved after there was a blatant foul on Steven Fletcher that went unpunished in the build up to the opening goal.
The 59-year-old was also frustrated with his side's defending as NINE of his players were in the box as they failed to defend the attack.
Slovakia continued to look more dangerous between the two sides and they went on to double their lead in the 56th minute as Mak grabbed his second of the night.

The 25-year-old rounded off a fine team move after Hamsik played the ball behind Scotland's defence for Jacub Holubek who picked out Mak from the byline before the winger showed great composure to find the back of the net.
Mak was then involved in the final goal of the evening after his corner was nodded in by Adam Nemec who was unmarked in the box.
It's the first time the two nations have met in a competitive match and Strachan will be unhappy considering Slovakia had not scored in their last four matches before their victory over the Scots.
