Leicester stopper reacted angrily to suggestion winning Premier League title was more special due to his famous old man

KASPER SCHMEICHEL angrily dismissed the suggestion he had finally stepped out of his father's shadow by winning the Premier League.
The Leicester stopper was an integral part of Claudio Ranieri's side - drawing comparison's to Manchester United legend Peter.
But after being asked if following in his old man's footsteps made his triumph even more special, Schmeichel hit out.

He told BT Sport: “Listen, this whole ‘shadow’ talk is rubbish. I’ve never understood it.
“Where’s the shadow? I don’t see it, I don’t get it, never have.
"I would have been a footballer regardless of who my father was because I love the game.

“Winning the Premier League is a massive achievements, that’s regardless of who your father was or wasn’t.
"It's just as big to any other player in the team as it is to me."
Schmeichel, 29, will line up against FC Copenhagen tonight in the Champions League - a trophy Peter also lifted with United.
The Foxes boast a 100 per cent record in the competition after smashing Club Brugge in their opener and edging past Porto 1-0.
