Leicester stars Kasper Schmeichel and Danny Drinkwater could be in line to face Stoke City at the weekend

The Foxes have been inconsistent this season but this news will come as a big boost for Claudio Ranieri

Kasper Schmeichel could be set to return to Leicester City at Stoke on Saturday – and Danny Drinkwater could join him.

Keeper Schmeichel has been in full training for a week after a broken hand and he is set to replace Ron-Robert Zieler.

Leicester have conceded 17 goals in the eight games without Schmeichel, as opposed to just two in the previous eight the 30-year-old played.

Manager Claudio Ranieri said: “Kasper is training very well and feels good.

“Today he played in a little game between us. I want to see the reaction tomorrow but the hand is OK.

“The goalkeeper isn’t so different because he has to understand the line of the ball and reactions.”

Drinkwater could return to contention following a knee injury that has kept him out of the last two matches.

“I’ll also check Drinkwater tomorrow,” said Ranieri. “He has a little problem with his knee from Porto. He asked to continue but then I changed.”

Leicester's record of one point from eight away games is the worst in the top flight this season with while they have lost four of their last six league outings at home and away.

But Ranieri insisted: “I think my strength is my balance inside myself - I don’t go high when everything is fantastic and down when it’s not right,” said the City boss.

“I know only one medicine – to work, work and work. This is the right medicine to try to help my players. My players are working very well in training.”

Genk defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has confirmed he is joining Leicester in January after he was heavily linked with a £15m switch.

But Ranieri dodged the chance to confirm the signing of the 19-year-old Nigeria international.

“I don't know – it's speculation. I know your business, you understand my business.

“I don't think who might arrive or go – all I think about is who is the best solution to beat or draw against Stoke City, or to make a good match against Stoke.”
