Max Meyer: Germany U21 star and Tottenham target desperate to leave Schalke in £17.5m deal
The 21-year-old's current club Schalke will be keen on striking a deal with the player entering the last year of his contract in Gelsenkirchen

SPURS are lining up a £17.5million move for Germany starlet Max Meyer.
White Hart Lane boss Mauricio Pochettino was keen on the Schalke man and made a late move last summer.
But with Schalke lacking time to find a replacement and refusing to budge on their £45m asking fee, Poch instead turned to deadline day signing Moussa Sissoko.
Things are very different this window though as Meyer has just a year left on his contract.
According to , Schalke have put Meyer up for sale, knowing that he will not sign a new deal.
The midfielder is keen to leave as the Gelsenkirchen-based side will not take part in any European competition next season.
£17.5m is believed to be sufficient to secure the signature of one of Germany's standout performers in this summer's European Under-21 Championship.
Meyer is an attacking midfielder blessed with excellent technical ability, having played futsal as a youngster.
In terms of playing style he has been likened to Mesut Ozil, rarely losing the ball in key areas and tending to favour a pass to a shot in the final third.
Jurgen Klopp thought so much of Meyer that he tried to convince him to make an unthinkable switch across the Ruhr Valley from Schalke to rivals Dortmund.
The now-Liverpool boss said of the player: “He would be a starter and captain at 90% of national teams.”
