BAYERN MUNICH have confirmed the signing of former Arsenal man and Serge Gnabry.

The Germany international left the Emirates to join Werder Bremen last summer, before activating a clause which allowed him to leave the club.

However, he struggled to make the grade and was loaned out to West Brom for the 2015-16 season where he made just one appearance.

In the summer, he moved to Werder Bremen where he excelled.

However, after just one season with the club, he activated a clause which allowed him to leave — a decision which was criticised by the chairman.

Klaus Filbry accused him of opting for the “easy choice.”

He said: "I would have hoped for some more perseverance from Serge

"Maybe he opted for the easiest way.

“I think it's a pity, but I wish him all the best.

"I was hoping that he could imagine a longer stay at Bremen — and the talks we had also suggested that was an option."

However, Gnabry seems pleased with his decision.

Following his decision to join Bundesliga champions, he admitted: “"It's a huge honour for me to sign for Bayern.

“I have exciting times ahead of me, which I look forward to."

Meanwhile, Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was content the club had secured the signature of another young, homegrown talent.

He added: “We are happy that in Serge Gnabry another young German international has come to Bayern.”
