Bayern Munich 3 Anderlecht 0: Robert Lewandowski, Thiago Alcantara and Joshua Kimmich complete rout
Bayern Munich are looking for a winning Champions League start on home turf against Anderlecht

BAYERN MUNICH are looking to put themselves back among Europe's big guns.
But they will go into their group as second favourites to big spending PSG, so a win over Anderlecht is crucial.
- Bayern Munich and Anderlecht have met on 10 occasions previously in European
competition, with the Bavarians winning five to the Belgian’s three victories (D2). - Anderlecht have only won one of their last six games against Bayern Munich, although
that came in their last encounter at the Allianz Arena, in the UEFA Cup back in March
2008 (2-1). - This is the 20th time in the last 21 seasons that Bayern Munich are taking part in the
Champions League, the only exception coming in 2007/08. They have reached the semis
in six of the last eight seasons. - Bayern Munich have won five European Cup/Champions League titles. Only Real Madrid
(12) and AC Milan (7) have been more successful. - Bayern Munich have won 20 of their last 25 Champions League group games (L5), with
their last draw coming in November 2012 against Valencia (1-1).
- At home, Bayern Munich have won 16 of their last 17 Champions League games, the only
exception being against Real Madrid in last season’s quarter final (1-2). - Anderlecht are making their 12th Champions League appearance – their first since
2014/15, the most for a Belgian side. - Anderlecht have never made the knockout stages of the Champions League in their 11
previous participations. - Anderlecht have won only three of their last 37 Champions League games (D10 L24).
They’ve also only kept four clean sheets in those 37 games. - Robert Lewandowski has scored 40 goals in 61 Champions League games since his debut
in the competition in 2011/12. Over that period, only Cristiano Ronaldo (77 goals) and
Lionel Messi (57 goals) have found the net on more occasions. - Bayern Munich are the seventh club managed by Carlo Ancelotti in the Champions
League, a record in the history of the competition. The Italian also holds the record for
most European Cup/Champions League wins as a manager, alongside Bob Paisley (3). - Meanwhile, this is René Weiler’s first Champions League participation as manager.
