Birmingham City manager latest: Aitor Karanka set to reject Brum offer as Championship strugglers prepare to offer Steve Cotterill return

AITOR KARANKA is set to turn down the chance to become Birmingham City’s new boss.
And that has opened the door for Steve Cotterill to make a dramatic return to the club.
Spaniard Karanka was in talks with Blues yesterday and was due to watch them in action this weekend.
However, he has stalled on the move because he is looking for a club with a better chance of success.
Karanka took Middlesbrough to promotion and wants a job where he has a chance of going up this season.
And Blues are still in the bottom three.
Birmingham wanted a quick answer from Karanka and now appear to have got it.
Now they will turn to former coach Cotterill who worked with Harry Redknapp.

Cotterill was disappointed to be overlooked when Redknapp stayed on.
And he would take the post in an instant.
Blues are also keen to keep caretaker Lee Carsley in a senior capacity and he will be asked to help out Cotterill if he is willing.
