Ribery was left reeling in pain on the floor in Berlin after overextending his leg when trying to control the ball.

He immediately pulled up down the left flank, writhing in despair as club doctors rushed to his aide.

Kingsley Coman was brought on as his replacement, where Ribery had to be guided off by physios around the outside of the pitch.

It has been reported he was immediately rushed to hospital where it is believed he has suffered a serious setback.

Bayern's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said: "Franck has a lot of pain and we hope that it is not bad, but it does not look good.

"The Doc is investigating him. He could not investigate him because he was so painful."

The French international has been plagued by a number of injuries in recent years.

In the 2014/15 season, Ribery featured just 15 times in , while a season later he played just 13 times in the German top-flight.

Last campaign he was restricted to 22 league appearances - the last time he played more than 22 games in the Bundesliga was in the 2012/13 season.

In the first match since Carlo Ancelotti was sacked following the 3-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern failed to get back to winning ways.

In Willy Sagnol's opening fixture in charge, his side squandered a two-goal lead as they failed to close the gap on leaders Borussia Dortmund.

They now trail Peter Bosz's side by four points after just seven games.

Bayern are now three games without a win in all competitions, and have drawn back-to-back league games after last weeks 2-2 draw with Wolfsburg.
