But after finally hanging up his boots as a player, it will be either in the boardroom or on the training ground where the striker will be looking to make an impact.

The 35-year-old is due in Milan tonight to watch the side take on Austria Wien in the Europa League.

And while he is there it is expected he will take up the invitation to meet with AC Milan managing director Marco Fassone to discuss a future role.

Fassone wants to find out what the former world footballer of the year now wants to do, with options open to him in either coaching or administration positions.

And reports in Italy suggest the main hope for Milan is that he will accept a sporting director role at the club.

A similar position has just been taken up by former Italy striker Franceso Totti at Roma after he brought down the curtain on his career last summer.

Kaka has still not committed himself to going back to the club where he made 307 appearances, scoring 104 goals.

He has only just ended his playing career after three years in America playing with Orlando City in Major League Soccer.

And he is still undecided whether he wants to go into coaching and management, or become more involved in the running of a club.

Milan are hopeful they can tempt Kaka into a return, with the new position likelyo to start ahead of next season.
