Donnarumma was widely tipped to leave the San Siro in the summer, but penned a new contract in July, committing his future to big-spending Italians.

The Italian goalkeeper, 18, had been linked with clubs including Real Madrid and Manchester United, but opted to stay in Milan, raking in £5.3million-a-year.

At the time, Donnarumma revealed: "Why didn't I go to Real Madrid who have a lot of champions?

"Milan is my home... I thought staying was right thing to do."

During the transfer saga, AC Milan fans turned on Donnarumma and even threw fake bank notes at him to show their anger.

Now, despite spending well over £100m in the summer, AC Milan have slumped to seventh in Serie A after 16 games - 16 points behind rivals and league-leaders Inter.

With Milan struggling, PSG are set to activate Donnarumma's £65m release clause - tempting him in with a bumper pay-day.

However, the move may need to be held off until July, rather than January, as the Ligue 1 giants look to avoid breaching Financial Fair Play rules.

PSG splashed out a world-record shattering £198m on Neymar in the summer, while bringing in Kylian Mbappe on loan, with a view to a £166m permanent deal.

The French club are facing a massive winter offload in order to balance the books and avoid FFP fines.

Donnarumma only joined AC Milan from home club Napoli in 2013 - following ten years at the Naples outfit.

Now, after nearly 100 games for the club, where he's enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence, he could be on the verge of a move to PSG's footballing revolution.
