MARK HUGHES blasted Marcos Alonso for almost breaking Shane Long's leg.
The Chelsea defender stamped on the Irishman just before half-time with the Blues 1-0 down at St Mary's.
The flashpoint happened right in front of Hughes and fourth official Roger East and Hughes said "maybe people need to look at that again retrospectively".
Ref Mike Dean didn't see fit to even book Alonso, leaving Hughes smouldering after a Chelsea comeback that brought them a 3-2 victory.
Saints boss Hughes rapped: “It was a poor tackle, and one that could have been more severe for Shane. Thankfully he’s just about okay.
"He got raked down the calf. It’s a clear red card. There’s intent to hurt Shane in my view. It’s a dangerous tackle.
"It could have broken Shane’s leg.
“I’m disappointed the officials didn’t see it. They were all within ten to 15 metres. Maybe that’s why none of them are going to the World Cup!
“Shane was really angry after the game. You've seen Shane for years and years, he's an honest player, he doesn't go down unless he's injured.
