The new £165,000 Lamborghini SUV is on the wishlist for the world's top football stars, but they'll have to wait in line before they can get behind the wheel
IT'S the new expensive motor that the world's best footballers are clamouring to buy, but it won't be easy to nab.
The Lamborghini Urus has been dubbed the world's first "Super SUV" because it boasts a weight-to-power ratio akin to a supercar.
It can also go from 0-62mph in just 3.6 seconds, which makes the Urus incredibly zippy.
But, the Premier League's elite may have a long wait before they can speed off in this £165k Lambo.
In fact, only around 1,000 Urus cars have been produced by the Italian car makers and more may not be available till next Spring.
Richard Clark, owner of Bournemouth showroom , says it is already the next must-have motor for Premier League footballers.
The regularly flogs cars to the likes of Jack Wilshere, Danny Rose and Kyle Walker.
He admitted he's taken orders from players who are already desperate to get their hands on the Urus.
"The one car footballers are all asking me for is the new Lamborghini," he told SunSport.
"A lot of footballers have got kids, they tend to settle down younger, so naturally they are looking at cars that are bigger and more comfortable.
"There's the Bentley Bentayga, which is a big hit, Rolls-Royce are unveiling a SUV this year, but Lamborghini's Urus could be the most popular.
"The car itself follows the same platform as the Audi Q7, but the suspension is similar to a Bentley Bentayga.
"It will look pretty spectacular out of the box, so to speak. It won't need to be modified, although I'm sure some footballers will."
Clark pointed out that footballers "love all the mod cons" and won't be disappointed with the infotainment system the Urus offers.
Fitted with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and a Bang & Olufsen Sound System with 3D sound and 1,700 watt output, no expense has been spared in production.
But with only 1,000 models made this year, and just 3,500 expected in 2019, footballers may have long wait.
"At the moment, Lamborghini are just building them for customers," Clark said.
"There's not going to be a massive influx of cars everywhere.
"So that'll mean the market stays high and the price stays high, which is a good thing.
"We've got a couple of orders coming through. They should start coming over from around May to September.
"But if a footballer would come to me now, it'll probably be next Spring till they could get one."
Clark is sure that as soon as one footballer arrives at training with a Urus and shows off his new ride to his teammates, they'll all want one.
"Without a doubt, footballers love to see cars before they buy them," he said.
"They could see a car on a computer screen, but that doesn't often do it justice.
"So that first person who brings the Urus to the training ground will start a trend.
"They'll appreciate it and want one themselves, that's for sure. But they will have to wait."
Named after the ancestor of modern domestic cattle, the Urus is able to reach a top speed of 190mph.
It's powered by a 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine, which delivers 650bhp as well as 850Nm of torque.
The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and the car's an all-wheel drive, which means it accelerates faster in inclement weather.
Performance in different environments is a key feature for the Urus and it has several driving modes.
Strada (street), Sport, Corsa (track), Terra (dirt), Sabbia (sand) and Neve (snow) are what's on offer for footballers wanting to get the best out of the car.
However, it'll be the design that'll have them reaching for their platinum credit cards.
Despite having the presence of an SUV, the Urus is finished similarly to the more sporty Aventador and the Countach.
It's the first time since the LM002, produced in the mid-80s, that Lamborghini have entered the SUV market.
