POLAND'S Kamil Glik has ruled himself out of the World Cup after injuring his shoulder attempting a bicycle kick.
The Monaco centre-back flung himself at a cross during training just hours after Poland announced their 23-man squad.
He underwent further tests on Tuesday in Nice where Zbigniew Boniek, head of the Polish FA, confirmed their worst fears on Twitter.
Boniek wrote: "What a bummer, @kamilglik25 is hurt and will not go to the World Cup."
According to AP news, a Poland doctor said the player will need at least six weeks to fully recover.
The news will come as a huge blow for the 30-year-old and the Poland national side with Glik one of the leaders among the side.
He has earned 57 caps for his country since his debut in 2010.
But one player's loss in another's gain with Stuttgart defender Marcin Kaminski set to replace the ex-Torino ace in the squad.

Poland have until 24 hours before their first World Cup match to name their final squad for the tournament.
The Euro 2012 hosts kick off their campaign in Group H with a clash against Senegal on June 19, before they face Colombia and Japan.
