Cristiano Ronaldo ‘agrees £16.7m tax settlement’ with Spanish government — as Real Madrid ‘prepare £425,000-a-week offer’
Portugal superstar is reportedly looking to leave club due to lack of protection over tax issues and a salary he feels does not reflect his status

CRISTIANO RONALDO has agreed a £16.7million settlement with the Spanish tax authorities, according to reports.
The Real Madrid superstar, 33, had been seeking an agreement after being accused of defrauding the government in unpaid tax.
And insist a settlement has now been reached — but it hinges on the new government.
Former prime minister Mariano Rajoy stepped down after seven years in office on June 1 and was replaced by Pedro Sanchez, which means no settlement will be official before the start of the World Cup.
The report claims that Ronaldo admitted four of the fraud charges, which means he will not have to spend any time in jail.
Meanwhile, say Real Madrid have offered the former Manchester United man a contract worth a basic £425,000-a-week plus bonuses.

Ronaldo is understood to be unhappy at the club, primarily down to a lack of protection over his tax issues and the fact his salary is dwarfed by his two biggest rivals.
He earns around £350,000-a-week, which pales in comparison to Neymar's £619,000, while Lionel Messi pockets a staggering £673,000 every seven days.
