SCHNEID MOVE

Everton ace Morgan Schneiderlin wanted by Marseille as Toffees look for clear-out

The France international has been told he can leave by new manager Marco Silva and a return to his home country is on the cards

MORGAN SCHNEIDERLIN is a target for French club Marseille - after being told he can leave by Everton.

The 28-year-old struggled at Goodison Park last season, despite initially exciting the Toffees fans following his £22m move from Manchester United in January 2017.

The Belgium international is expected to kick-start a clearout on Merseyside as new manager Marco Silva begins his new era at the club,

Schneiderlin was among a number of Everton stars who were disappointing under Sam Allardyce last term and was subsequently dropped.

After returning towards the latter stages of the season his performances picked up, but he is still surplus to requirements under the new boss and has told Schneiderlin to find a new club.

Marseille are interested in bringing the France international back to his home country as they prepare to battle for a top three spot.

L'OM will also be looking to go one better in the Europa League, narrowly missing out in the final in May.

A move to Marseille would spell an end to a ten-year career in England for Schneiderlin, having come to prominence at Southampton.

He helped them earn back-to-back promotions to the Premier League before a failed move to Manchester United earned him a swift exit to Everton.

And Schneiderlin is just one of a number of Everton stars expected to be on the way out this summer, with Wayne Rooney and Yannick Bolasie also likely to leave Goodison Park.
