Chelsea set to hand Antonio Rudiger new £100,000-a-week deal after stunning start to season

The German international is set to follow fellow defender Marcos Alonso's lead and seal a lucrative extension after his impressive performances this term

CHELSEA are set to hand Antonio Rudiger a new lucrative £100,00-a-week contract after his stunning start to the season, according to reports.

The German international has more than three years left on his deal but the Stamford Bridge top brass want to reward him for his performances.

Rudiger has formed a formidable partnership with David Luiz at the heart of the Blues defence and has established himself as a vital member of Maurizio Sarri's set up.

On the weekend he was again pivotal for the west London side against Man United, popping up with a goal in the first half and setting up the second to save Chelsea's blushes and continue their unbeaten season.

The £30million signing from Roma has also contributed to three Chelsea clean sheets this term.

However, the 25-year-old has not always been such a solid member of the first team.

Under Antonio Conte, Rudiger often had to play second-fiddle to the likes of Andreas Christensen and Gary Cahill.

This season has seen his true breakthrough to the starting line-up.

This morning Chelsea also confirmed that Marcos Alonso has extended his Chelsea contract.

The Spaniard has extended his current contract to 2023 and Rudiger is expected to do so too.

The full-back has been an ever-present on the left flank for Chelsea since his multi-million pound move from Italian side Fiorentina.

The 27-year-old said: "I am so happy to stay here longer and to keep playing for one of the best teams in the world. It’s been a very good two seasons and I am looking forward to more."
