According to the , Parker, who made 128 appearances for Fulham, could be promoted from first-team coach to interim manager — after the Serb clocked up  just one Premier League win this season.

They claim promoting the former England midfielder, which would be the cheap option, is favoured over other names in the frame, like David Moyes, Sam Allardyce or Steve Bruce, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers or former Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri.

Parker completed his coaching badges and formerly had the managed Tottenham Hotspur’s Under-18s, before moving to Craven Cottage in July to join Jokanovic's backroom staff.

The former midfielder is high regarded at Craven Cottage and it is believed his appointment would be welcomed by Craven Cottage bosses as they consider their options.

Fulham splashed out a massive £100million in a summer transfer raid that brought the likes of Jean Michael Seri, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Alfie Mawson and Andre Schurrle to West London.

Despite The Cottagers dismal start to the season Jokanovic has implemented an open attacking style, but they have been shambolic in defence.

After facing Liverpool at Anfield this weekend, the up-coming international break allows Fulham to consider their options with a basement battle against Southampton to follow after the international break.
