Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia ‘offered to Inter Milan’ on free transfer

Valencia is out of contract in the summer, but United could take up a 12-month option to keep him at Old Trafford until 2020

MANCHESTER UNITED captain Antonio Valencia is a target for Inter Milan, according to reports.

Valencia's future at Old Trafford is under a cloud due to lack of game time this season.

The 33-year-old lost his place under sacked United boss Jose Mourinho last year.

And only returned to first-team action in the win at Newcastle on Wednesday – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s fourth game in charge.

Valencia is a free agent in the summer, but United do have an option to keep him at Old Trafford for a further 12 months.

However, the emergence of Diogo Dalot and the versatile Ashley Young able to operate at right-back could see the Ecuadorian surplus to requirements and allowed to leave.

Italian journalist claims Inter are ready to offer Valencia an escape route to Serie A if Joao Miranda leaves the San Siro this month.

The Brazil international reportedly wants to quit Italy and is attracting interest from Europe and China.

Valencia joined United ten years ago from Wigan for £16milllion.

The South American has made 240 appearances scoring 17 goals.

Valencia was mainly used as a winger until ex-United boss Sir Alex Ferguson converted him into the Old Trafford first-choice right-back.
