Jermain Defoe reveals it was Steven Gerrard factor that made him snub Palace for Rangers stint
Striker signed up for an 18-month loan deal north of the border after falling down the pecking order at Bournemouth

JERMAIN DEFOE has revealed Steven Gerrard is the reason he snubbed Crystal Palace for Rangers.
The Bournemouth striker is heading north on an 18-month loan deal after falling out of favour at Dean Court.
And he revealed the opportunity to work with former England team-mate Gerrard was too good to turn down.
Defoe, 36, said: "There was interest, I had to weigh it all up, and I fancied something different to be honest, I fancied a different challenge.
"It is a massive football club and I am coming into an environment where everyone is confident.
"The Palace one was lingering for years — I know a lot of people down there, Mark Bright, a lot of the players.
"It is obviously a fantastic football club, with a top manager.
"But I spoke to Stevie and decided to come here, because it is a great opportunity for me.
"When he got the job, it did make me think a little bit, and so far he is a natural."
Asked about his lack of game time for the Cherries, the veteran hitman remained a true pro.
He added: "22 minutes? I thought it was less to be honest.
"It happens to the best players in the world — for whatever reason, you don't play.
