GARETH BALE and Alexis Sanchez could both be available on free transfers this summer because their clubs are so desperate to get rid of them, it has been claimed.

Bale's time at Real Madrid looks to be coming to an end with new manager Zinedine Zidane deciding he doesn't want him in his plans next season.

And Sanchez has become an expensive liability at Manchester United having failed to make any impact in his 18 months with the club.

Now the report that the need for Real and United to get both out of the exit door could even mean they would not ask a fee to any interested clubs.

Sanchez, 30, has been a huge flop since his free transfer move Old Trafford in January 2018 on wages of £505,000-a-week.

The Chilean clearly does not feature in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's vision for his squad next season but his contract still has another three years left to run.

It will be hard in any situation to find a club willing to match the kind of money they are paying Sanchez in wages, let alone command a transfer fee as well.

So it is claimed they may well be willing to write-off any fee, and even offer to pay some of his wages just to get him away from Old Trafford.

They did a similar deal with Everton when they allowed Wayne Rooney to move to Goodison Park.

Inter Milan look to be the only club who have shown a strong interest so far in the former Arsenal star, but money appears to be a stumbling block.

Real Madrid star Gareth Bale offered Spurs return in staggering £10million LOAN move to escape Bernabeu boos

It is a similar problem to the one Real are discovering with Bale, 29, who also has a deal that runs until 2022.

The Wales star is growing increasingly resigned to the fact he will be on the move this summer but will not want to take a major cut in wages.

And such is the financial package involved in signing him, few clubs have the resources to pay his salary and come up with a chunk of money to pay Real.

So the Spanish club are looking at ways they can help to facilitate a move away from the Bernabeu, including letting him go for nothing.

Manchester United had courted the winger in the past but there looks little appetite for them to go back in for him this summer.

Tottenham have been offered the chance to take him, but a deal like that would shatter their wage structure.
