BLADE STUNNER

Franck Ribery linked with shock Sheffield United transfer in the Premier League swansong for Bayern Munich legend

SHEFFIELD UNITED are lining up one of football's most unlikely transfers of all-time in Franck Ribery, according to reports.

The highly-decorated France legend is a free agent after leaving Bayern Munich at the end of last season.

Ribery, 36, spent 12 years with the German champions and won a whopping 22 titles.

And with 81 caps for his country under his belt, reports in Germany suggest his next move could be in the Premier League.

According to Kicker, newly-promoted Sheffield United are eyeing a massive transfer coup.

The Blades are back in the big-time following promotion last season and it appears they want a big name signing to bolster their relegation bid.

It was only in 2017 when Chris Wilder's side were playing their football in League One.

But a climb through the leagues has seen United return to the top flight for the first time since 2007.

Football's craziest transfers

Julien Faubert - West Ham to Real Madrid (loan)

Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano to West Ham

Paulinho - Guangzhou Evergrande to Barcelona

Nicklas Bendtner - Arsenal to Juventus

Bebe - Vitoria de Guimaraes to Manchester United

Edgar Davids - Free agent to Barnet

Juninho - Atletico Madrid to Middlesbrough

However their hopes to land Ribery appear slim with the winger "still having aspirations to sign for a major European club."

The report also claims that he has offers in Australia and Qatar but has interests elsewhere.

Wilder also has more realistic targets in mind having been linked with club favourite Phil Jagielka and former Chelsea man John Obi Mikel.
