BRUNO FERNANDES is still a candidate for one of the biggest moves of the summer, according to his boss at Sporting Lisbon.
Marcel Keizer is aware of plenty of interest in the Portuguese playmaker with Manchester United strongly linked to a move.
While the coach insists he is not in charge of the player's destiny, he admits that Sporting are prepared for his exit.
He told reporters: "You're asking the wrong person, I'm the coach.
"If they want him, they don't call me.
"He's playing very well, clubs like him and we'll see what will happen.
"Some players may leave, but this happens at all teams.
"In England the window is shorter but if he leaves we can go and get another player."
Fernandes scored against Liverpool in their pre-season friendly in New York, largely thanks to a Simon Mignolet howler.
And coach Keizer is taking a wait-and-see approach amid the speculation, which recently put United down for a £49million bid which was rejected due to Sporting's £67m demands..
He continued: "He's a great player and very important to us.
"We know what the situation is and, now he's here, let's wait and see."
Liverpool were among the clubs initially touted for a move but Jurgen Klopp discussed the possibility of United signing Fernandes after the game.
