The French are changing the lights to represent the colours of the country that collects the most Twitter hashtags during each given day of the tournament.

And with England's heroes winning so late on, it was a sure thing as the internet exploded in collective joy.

People have been flocking into towns across the country to celebrate the win over neighbours Wales which puts England in pole position of Group B.

Their destiny is now in their own hands against Slovakia - as is Wales who know a win against Russia will be enough regardless of England's result.

Northern Ireland's win over Ukraine was their first ever in the Euros and was met with huge celebrations in Belfast and the stadium.
