Chris Smalling: Manchester United man hospitalised after ‘fainting from food poisoning’ on holiday in Bali, not jelly fish sting

CHRIS SMALLING was taken to hospital after fainting from food poisoning during his holiday in Bali, according to Manchester United.

The Old Trafford club were forced to release a statement after a shocking picture of Smalling signing an autograph wearing a neckbrace in hospital emerged amid reports he had been stung by a jelly fish.

A club statement read: "Manchester United can clarify Chris Smalling has had food poisoning during his holiday which resulted in him fainting on Sunday.

"The 26-year-old defender was taken to the hospital and is now feeling fine.

"Smalling is currently on vacation following his time with England at Euro 2016 before reporting back for pre-season training later this month.

Smalling had been staying at an exclusive retreat which offers holistic relaxation, yoga and massage therapies with long-term partner Sam Cooke.

But it has not been the relaxing break that the centre-back required after his woeful time with England at Euro 2016.
