Ryder Cup 2016: Team Europe fly out to Hazeltine with their Wags… after a quick game of pool

Masters champion Danny Willett and Lee Westwood played a few frames as skipper Darren Clarke led team to shot at history

TEAM EUROPE begin their journey to Ryder Cup history - after Masters champion Danny Willett and Lee Westwood have a game of pool.

The golfers were joined by their Wags as they boarded the flight from Heathrow to Hazeltine looking for a record fourth straight win in the clash with America.

When is the Ryder Cup? Where is it? Who's on the teams and who will win?

Westwood kept the fun going on board the Virgin Atlantic plane as he posted his own photos alongside Willett and Martin Kaymer.

Captain Darren Clarke held close the trophy won by Paul McGinley at Gleneagles to years ago.

Clarke, 2011 Open champion, was joined by vice-captains Thomas Bjorn, Padraig Harrington, Sam Torrance and Paul Lawrie in matching navy outfits, as well as wife Alison.

Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Andy Sullivan, Thomas Pieters, Chris Wood, Kaymer, Willett and Westwood will meet up with fellow team members Rory McIlroy, Henrik Stenson, Justin Rose, Sergio Garcia and Matt Fitzpatrick once they land in America.

McIlroy, fresh off last night's £9million triumph in the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup, is the form player in the world heading into the showdown.

And a rematch with Ryan Moore, the man he beat to claim the huge cheque in a sudden death play-off, could be on the cards in Sunday's singles.
