GAMBLE LANDED

Librisa Breeze goes one better

Dean Ivory's grey had been heavily backed at Royal Ascot but came up just short finishing second, this time there was no mistake as he swooped late to land some big bets

LIBRISA BREEZE landed some hefty bets after claiming a fast-finishing victory in the International Stakes at Ascot.

Dean Ivory's grey was an obvious contender for the lucrative seven-furlong prize having filled the runner-up spot in last month's Royal Hunt Cup and was a heavily-supported 4-1 favourite.

Robert Winston was in no hurry aboard the market leader, settling him nearer last than first in a group that raced down the middle of the track.

Squats was the first of those racing towards the stands' rail to commit for home and took a couple of lengths out of the field under amateur Georgia Cox, but Librisa Breeze soon arrived on the scene and galloped on to score by a length and a half.

Squats clung on to second, with Scottish Glen faring best of those that raced on the far side in third.

Winston said: "The horse has had a lot of problems in the past but he's a very good horse.

"He's got speed for seven (furlongs)."

Ivory is considering a potential step up in class at Doncaster's St Leger meeting in September for Librisa Breeze.

"I was very concerned about the ground and we had to take a chance," said the trainer.

"Robert waited and waited and cruised through. He won very convincingly.

"I've got him in a Group race coming up in September (Park Stakes, Doncaster), but I'll sit tight and have a chat with his owners.

"He loves it here. He's such an honest and genuine horse."
