IVORY'S HOPE

Ascot can play to Librisa’s strengths

The four-year-old has had a successful campaign over seven furlongs and further this year and Ivory is hoping the stiff finish at Ascot will play to his strengths over the shorter trip

DEAN Ivory believes Ascot's stiff course will play to Librisa Breeze's strengths in the Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes.

The four-year-old will take a drop in trip after a successful campaign over further and showed an electrifying burst of speed to win a valuable handicap over seven furlongs at Ascot just two weeks ago.

Ivory took Librisa Breeze out of the Balmoral Handicap over that trip at the five-day confirmation stage as he felt his horse deserved a chance at Group One level.

"Obviously we're dropping back to six furlongs. It's the end of the year and there aren't many races around," Ivory told At The Races.

"Sometimes you've got to take a bit of a chance.

"It's a very hard race. It's one of the toughest races I've seen for a while, but it's a Group One and we think he's good enough to take his part in it.

"He could just come and surprise us again. He'll be finishing strong. Ideally I'd like seven furlongs, but the horse is hopefully as well as I can have him.

"He only ran a couple of weeks ago. We don't know how much it's taken out of him until we run him.

"He likes Ascot. It's a stiff track and we're looking forward to the day, very much so."
