I’M not sure whether to Wish or Worship for luck today.

I’ve three rides at Haydock for three trainers and I start off on SEBASTIANS WISH (2.15). He has done well since joining Keith Dalgleish. He won four times last year.

This is a tough race. He has been winning in lesser grade so we’ll just have to see how we go. He likes to be handy so we’ll see how it pans out but I expect we’ll be forward on the pace.

You need to be handy at Haydock, especially if the ground isn’t soft. If they get rolling early in the straight it’s hard to peg back the prominently-ridden horses.

I’ve known Keith a long time. I rode with him years ago before weight problems forced him to pack up. He’s a nice guy and I’m delighted he’s doing well training.

I ride a few for him each year but he’s based in Scotland so it’s a bit too far for me to go riding out. Byron Flyer will be hard to beat. He ran well in the consolation race for the Chester Cup.

ADJUTANT (2.50) has won both his races this year. It was soft when he won at Newbury at 50-1 in April. He then won on the all-weather at Wolverhampton a couple of weeks ago so he is in good form.

It’s hard to win novice races with a penalty so he deserves respect. He has a difficult draw in stall 15 but it’s an open race and the handicapper hasn’t been too harsh.

He travels strongly so we’ll look to get cover but with the big field they should go a decent pace. Brian Meehan’s horses are running well, too.

WORSHIP (4.35) won her maiden over six furlongs on her debut at Kempton just before Christmas.

She beat Desert Doctor that day and he’s no slouch. He won his next two races and he’s developed into a useful horse.

David Simcock then ran her in the 1,000 Guineas but she didn’t stay. She didn’t run badly but the drop back to six furlongs will suit.

I’ve only ridden her once at home. We had a light breeze the other day but she’s a nice filly and she’ll continue to improve.

As long as the race goes smoothly I’d like to think she’d have a chance — I like her. David’s one of my biggest supporters and it’s good to see his horses running well.

His Lightning Spear ran a blinder in the Lockinge last weekend. He couldn’t have gone any closer to winning. It’s a testament to David’s skills that he can get a seven-year-old to run to that level.

I’ve not got a ride in the Temple Stakes today but the horse we’re all going to be looking at is Battaash.

He was a great sprinter last year and as long as he doesn’t have trouble with the stalls he will be very hard to beat.

Tomorrow I’m off to Ireland for three rides. I’ve picked up the ride on Lightening Quick in the 1,000 Guineas.

I’m not sure if I’ll have a ride in the Oaks. David might run one of his fillies, he’ll make a decision next week. The Oaks looks more open than the Derby, especially with Lah Ti Dar ruled out. Magic Wand looks the best to me.
