Horse racing tips: Newmarket – Templegate’s betting preview for TODAY’S ITV racing
Newmarket, Carlisle, Doncaster, Newbury and Epsom come under the spotlight as Templegate gives you his best bets for the day

LEGENDS OF WAR looked out of the top drawer when making a winning debut at Yarmouth. This Group 2 level should not be beyond him.

Aidan O’Brien takes the biscuit. He’s clearly not content with mopping up racing’s top prizes as he looks to have a great chance of landing this Group 3 with GIUSEPPE GARIBALDI.
He notched up fast-ground wins at Navan and Leopardstown before finishing third in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot. That was a better race than it often is and his Curragh second when upped to 1m6f was another solid effort.
First Eleven was unlucky at Royal Ascot but that was only a handicap. He’s also not guaranteed to stay this longer trip.
Loxley and Caliburn have the potential to go well.

LEGENDS OF WAR could not have been more impressive on his debut at Yarmouth. It’s not easy to go straight from a novice race to a Group contest but his was a performance of a class horse.
John Gosden has a decent set of juveniles this year and I’m sure Legends Of War is up to the job.
Advertise is the obvious danger. He stormed home to finish runner-up to Gosden’s Calyx in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. That gives him a great chance but he does seem to like to be held up and those tactics are not ideal at this course.
Van Beethoven has claims but a penalty for winning weaker Curragh Group 2 doesn’t make life easy, though Konchek looks ready for the step up to 6f after running well in the Norfolk.

This is often one of the strongest three-year-old handicaps of the season. TRIBAL QUEST has the potential to develop into a Group sprinter and I’m convinced he’s well weighted today.
He looked good when beating progressive Yafta at Newmarket’s Guineas meeting. It doesn’t worry me that he’s not run since as both his wins came following a break.
Encrypted had a stack of today’s rivals behind when winning a hot York contest last month but he might do well to beat Foxtrot Lady again on 6lbs worse terms.
Buridan is out quickly after bolting up at Haydock last weekend and his trainer Richard Hannon also has a decent chance with in-form Embour.
We’ve not seen the best of Grand Koonta this season. He could run well at a big price.

Hit the right note with Lar in the Princess Of Wales’s Stakes. LARAAIB looked really smart early last season when rattling up a hat-trick of wins.
It was no disgrace to be brushed aside by Group 1 winner Poet’s Word on his return and he had a dreadfully wide stall to overcome at Royal Ascot. If he’s not hassled on the lead he’ll be hard to pass.
Mirage Dancer finished in front of Laraaib at the Royal meeting but he had a far better draw. That form doesn’t worry me at all.
Barsanti is really consistent but he is vulnerable at this level.
