Best horse racing tips for today: Sun Racing’s top picks for today’s racing at Newbury, Nottingham, Wolverhampton, Newmarket, Catterick and Chelmsford

Don't miss out on Sun Racing's best bet and each-way shot at all of Friday's meetings

RAIN has hit the country once again - and it's soft ground lovers who'll be in their element.

The Sun Racing team have been studying the form and below are some of the best bets and each-way shots for the day.

1

Newbury

Best bet

2.25 Blistering Bob - Roger Teal's three-year-old was a revelation on handicap debut last time out, blitzing his opposition and looking the winner some way out.

The ground is likely to be on the softer side now and he runs off an 11lb higher mark - but he was so impressive that day that he should be able to go in again.

Each-way

2.55 Arab Moon - Perhaps this can be the day he finally gets his head in front on turf. He has a much lower mark than on the all-weather and his recent placed efforts over further have been very decent. The drop in trip will help and he gets the services of Andrea Atzeni.

Nottingham

Best bet

4.10 Buzz - Comes here seeking a hat-trick and likely to take some beating. Was impressive at Kempton last time and if he can translate that form back on turf then he'll be a very tough nut to crack. Still unexposed and can defy a 5lb rise.

Each-way

3.05 Jawshan - Likely to be overpriced coming from the George Peckham yard but should not be underestimated. Was a good second on debut when denied a clear run at a crucial stage. Provided he can reproduce that on turf, he'll be hard to catch.

Wolverhampton

Best bet

1.40 Peggy Sue - Bounced back to form with a close second at Brighton last week and can get back on the score-sheet with the help of a 7lb claimer. Was a course and distance winner last month and looks capable of going in again.

Each-way

2.10 Macho Lady - Not shown a massive amount for David O'Meara so far but her sixth on handicap debut last time was promising as she was only run out of it late on. The trainer is enjoying a fantastic period of form and she is surely capable of more now.

Newmarket

Best bet

5.55 Akbar Shah - Has finished second on his last three starts but was possibly unlucky not to win last time out. Almost certainly has more to come for trainer Ed Walker and this doesn't look the strongest of races.

Each-way

7.30 Brancaster - Didn't handle the track at Epsom last time on handicap debut but was well supported beforehand. Looked to have plenty left in the tank but just couldn't cope with the camber. Likely to be a big price under in-form Hayley Turner.

Catterick

Best bet

6.10 Capla Gilda - Been in good form of late for red hot trainer Archie Watson and was third last time over too long a trip. The drop back to six furlongs will help her and she is better than selling grade.

Each-way

7.10 Muraadef - First start for trainer Ruth Carr was a big step in the right direction having not show much for Ed Dunlop. Only beaten two and a quarter lengths that day and surely capable of defying his current mark of 56.

Chelmsford

Best bet

6.50 Race Day - Won well at Sandown last time out after not showing much for a while. William Cox takes off a handy 5lb and his mount is effective on a synthetic surface. Could take some beating.

Each-way

7.55 Casey Jones - Won first three starts for John Gosden but has been disappointing since switched to turf. Now back on the polytrack he'll be tough to beat, particularly as first-time blinkers could help eke out some more improvement.
