Steve Mullen guides you through Thursday's racing at Newbury, Nottingham, Wolverhampton, Newmarket, Catterick and Chelmsford

NEWBURY
1.20 - CLOAK AND DAGGER (latest odds here)
Cloak And Dagger left his debut form behind when a close-up second at Haydock last time out. He finished well over the 6f trip so this extra furlong should be right up his street.
Fox Power was sent off favourite for his debut at Goodwood last time and it was a decent effort to come home third. He should be able to build on that.
Cap Francais looks the best bred of the newcomers.
1.50 - BOERHAN (latest odds here)
Boerhan is well bred and should know his job well enough coming from in-form William Haggas. He should like this trip as a juvenile and the betting will be a good guide. Desirous comes from a trainer in Ralph Beckett who has his share of first-time winners. She is bred to be a miler so this distance should be fine.
Fox Premier looked in need of his debut at Sandown last time but is bred to be a champion so should improve markedly.
2.25 - GAME PLAYER (latest odds here)
Game Player came back from 12 months off and a gelding operation to finish a solid second at Lingfield last time out. That was over this distance and there should be more to come with the benefit of that run.
Keeper’s Choice has some decent form in the book and won well on his last visit here. That was over this distance and he’s just 3lb higher in the weights today.
Hombre Casado may not have got home over 1m2f at Sandown last time and this drop back in distance makes a lot of sense.

2.55 - SKY EAGLE (latest odds here)
Sky Eagle looks made for this distance and ran really well to finish second at Goodwood last time out. He was in front for a long way there and was just collared in the closing stages. He has gone up just 1lb for that, which gives him every chance of winning.
Cliffs Of Dover comes here in cracking form and cruised to victory at Haydock last time. He stays well and has a chance under a 6lb penalty.
Arab Moon has been running well without winning and is off the same mark as a decent third at York last time out.
3.30 - LETHAL PROMISE (latest odds here)
Lethal Promise wasn’t disgraced in a Curragh Group 3 last time when she may have found the 6f trip a little taxing. She had looked a real prospect when scooting in over this distance at Naas in June and can get back to winning ways today.
Heartwarming is well regarded and built on a good debut at Sandown when winning at the same course last time out. She is suited by this distance and deserves this step up in class.
Thriving is still learning the game and is taking a step up in class. But she ran well at Newmarket last time and has place prospects.
4.00 - ISLAND OF LIFE (latest odds here)
Island Of Life has been consistent and was again right on the premises at Wolverhampton last time out. That was on the back of an excellent second at Ascot when she relished this distance. The handicapper has been fair with a 2lb rise and she should be competitive.
Mountain Peak didn’t enjoy Windsor last time but this more conventional track should suit judged on his good win at Haydock two starts ago.
Awesome wasn’t beaten far by Island Of Life at Ascot and could hit the frame.
4.35 - ALHAKMAH (latest odds here)
Alhakmah looks the one to beat after going down in a tight finish at Glorious Goodwood last time out. She was asked to make up a lot of ground quickly there and only just failed to pull it off. That was her debut and any improvement at all would surely be good enough today.
Yourtimeisnow didn’t handle Goodwood in that race after going close on debut at Newmarket. A return to a more normal track could pay dividends for Roger Varian’s juvenile.
5.10 HELLOVAQUEEN (latest odds here)
Hellovaqueen won at Ffos Las on her comeback from more than a year off last time. Although form from that track isn’t usually the strongest, it was a convincing success and she looks capable of following up. She gets on well with today’s claiming rider and looks on a handy mark.
Misu Pete went well on the all-weather last time having earlier gone close here over a mile. She’s only 1lb higher in the weights and should be competitive again.
