Richard Kingscote claims Royal Ascot winner Arthur Kitt no back number in Solario Stakes

Tom Dascombe's Chesham winner has been overlooked in the market ahead of the Group 3 contest

RICHARD KINGSCOTE believes Arthur Kitt is ready to face his acid test on Saturday.

The Royal Ascot winner is two from two and will take on five talented rivals in Sandown's Solario Stakes.

In most renewals of the Group 3 contest, the two-year-old would have done enough to earn favouritism, having beaten off ten rivals to land the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot back in June.

However, this season's edition has drawn a competitive field, and connections believe their challenger will probably need to improve again if he is to land the spoils.

Kingscote said: "He's had a bit of a break. It was a great day at Ascot and he did it well there.

"Sandown's stiff finish will suit him, but he'll need to travel better than he did in the Chesham.

"We know what's in the tank, though, so I'd like to think he can improve.

"Tom knows how to get them ready."

Among those taking him on is impressive debut winner Too Darn Hot.

Connections of the once-raced colt suggested earlier in the week they wouldn't be running their exciting talent, but seem to have changed their minds after he was declared for the race on Thursday morning.

NATIIONAL DUTY Goodwood revelation Dark Vision to tackle Group 1 company in National Stakes

The son of Dubawi heads the betting with most firms for trainer John Gosden, but will need to prove he can perform against the best of his age group on the drop back to seven furlongs.

Highest rated of the sextet is Dunkerron, who only found the impressive Dark Vision too strong at Glorious Goodwood, while the horse that finished third that day, Confiding, also takes his chance.

Acomb Stakes runner-up Watan and Mark Johnston's Victory Command make up the rest of the field.
