WHENAPOET showed some promise over 6f when fourth at Newmarket last time and is stepping up in distance for this handicap debut.
He doesn’t have much weight and the longer trip could bring improvement.
Massam is up 6lb for winning well at Newcastle last time and is the obvious threat.

The betting will be a good guide to this with a handful of really nice newcomers from leading yards.
On paper, the most interesting could be MAGIC J who cost a million dollars and is closely related to plenty of winning juveniles. Mubakker and Dubai Opera are also bred to be stars.
Of those with a run, Swindler probably achieved more when finishing second at Windsor on debut than Excelled did when scoring here but both should improve for the experience.

GREAT BEYOND sauntered to victory at Wolverhampton last time on his first run since a breathing operation.
That seems to have unlocked his obvious talent and he should develop into much more than a 79-rated handicapper.
Hamlul is also above average for the grade and may have found the ground too soft when third at Goodwood last time. He earlier won well at Beverley and, as a son of Frankel, is respected.

LONG CALL won by almost three lengths at Leicester last time but that was an apprentices’ race which means he runs off the same mark today.
He relished the drop to this sort of trip and it’s still early days in the UK after moving from Tony Martin in Ireland. There could well be more to come.

DANECASE has been knocking on the door and came back from a break looking a bit rusty at Windsor last time.
That should have blown away the cobwebs and he has a live chance here from a reduced mark over a trip he likes.
La Fortuna went close at Windsor last time and is another coming down the handicap.

HEAVENLY GUEST was sent off at 80-1 at Kempton last time but ran really well to finish third.
He could have been pitched into handicap company but stays at novice level which gives him a good chance to strike. He wouldn’t have to improve much more on that last run to get off the mark.
Poyle George Two ran well on the AW last time and should be on the premises again.

WAR WHISPER came back to his best when second at Musselburgh last time out over this distance.
He has been nudged up just 1lb for that solid effort and this race doesn’t look any tougher.
