Best horse racing tips: Sun Racing’s top picks for today’s racing at Newmarket, Uttoxeter, Wetherby and Kempton

Don't miss out on Sun Racing's best bet and each-way shot at all of today's meetings

THE opening day of Newmarket's final meeting of the season gets underway on Friday, while there's also National Hunt action from Uttoxeter and Wetherby.

The Sun Racing team have been studying the form and put together a best bet and each-way for all four meetings.

1

Newmarket

Best bet

4.00 Little Jo - Progressed big time for trainer Brian Ellison this season, racking up three wins before finishing third in a hot handicap at the track last time out. Up 5lb for that effort now but should have plenty more to come and can finish his season on a high.

Each-way

1.40 Gypsy Spirit - More exposed than most of her rivals but has plenty of talent and produced a good performance in a big field at the track earlier this month. Demonstrated she can cut it at this level with a head second at Ripon in August and can strike now with Luke Morris up top.

Kempton

Best bet

7.45 Envoy - Clearly benefited from a long break when winning well at this course in September. Has another absence to defy now but clearly goes well fresh and conditions suit well. Still progressive and unexposed so should be able to defy rise in weights.

Each-way

9.15 Spanish Star - Could be worth chancing this three-year-old, who has dropped to a workable mark. Showed more in Class 6 company last time out and this grade clearly suits much better.

Uttoxeter

Best bet

12.55 Wenceslaus - Cheekpieces worked a treat second time at Plumpton two weeks ago and he should be able to defy a 7lb penalty in a field full of out of form rivals. Dan Hiskett takes off 5lb and he can strike now.

Each-way

3.15 Sackett - Not been seen since May but has won fresh in the past and fitness is unlikely to be an issue. Signed off last season with a disappointing performance but had previously been progressive. Can return to winning ways with Bryony Frost in the saddle.

Wetherby

Best bet

2.30 King D'argent - Made a big impression on debut at this track, only having to be pushed out from a decent yardstick with a previous winner a long way back in third. Clearly benefited for the switch to Dan Skelton and he can take the step up in grade in his stride.

Each-way

3.05 Delusionofgrandeur - Big scopey sort who hasn't hit the heights that have been expected over fences so far. However, he goes well fresh and his trainer has a very good record at this track. On a good mark and can take this prize on seasonal reappearance.
