Best horse racing tips for today’s action at Southwell, Pontefract and Exeter from Tom Bull

Don't miss out on Tom Bull's best bets at all of Tuesday's meetings

AINTREE has been and gone and although the Scottish National is just around the corner, this is the time for the speedsters to dust off their gearboxes.

I've been searching through the cards and have found a gem or two to go to war with on Tuesday.

1

Pontefract

4.30 Central City - Won his most recent start in fine style, coming from last to first to land a seventeen-runner handicap in emphatic fashion.

He's up in the weights now but has race fitness on his side and clearly appreciated the return to turf.

Jockey Kieran O'Neill is flying and his mount can follow up from the foot of the handicap.

Southwell 3.20 - Monbeg Gold

Exeter

2.40 Legal History - Won ridiculously easily at Ascot last time in what had looked a very competitive contest indeed.

Has to carry a 7lb penalty now but he almost certainly would have won last time with that amount of weight and this a fair bit weaker.

Tom Scudamore and David Pipe are finishing the season off strongly and can pick up another victory here.

Southwell

3.20 Monbeg Gold - Came good at Exeter last time and was value for more than the winning margin considering he jumped left and even slipped at one point.

He's up 3lb for that but very capable rider Jonjo O'Neill Jr takes off the same amount so he looks handicapped to strike again.

The absence is a slight concern but no doubt his wise trainer has him ready to go.
