UFC star Conor McGregor forced to hire 24/7 tough-guy bodyguards after receiving terrifying death threats
Undisputed featherweight king has beefed up his personal security team with burly aides named Rocky and Drago after being stalked
UFC megastar Conor McGregor is being protected by a team of bodyguards 24/7 after receiving death threats.
The 27-year-old Dubliner, aka ‘The Notorious’, has beefed up his personal security team and is now watched round the clock by security personnel.
He has complained of being stalked, but it’s not linked to an alleged threat by an AK-47 nut on Twitter earlier this year.
The undisputed featherweight champ was accompanied by two burly aides — named Rocky and Drago — as he attended the VIP Style Awards in Dublin with long-term love Dee Devlin last Friday.
Conor happily posed for photos with fans and celebs on the red carpet, but later admitted he hired extra muscle after being targeted by deranged stalkers.
A source explained: “Conor and Dee arrived around 30 minutes after most of the other red-carpet arrivals and they were accompanied by an entourage.
“He’d two huge minders with him for the entire evening and although everyone was in great form, they didn’t leave his side once.
“One of them even waited directly outside the toilets when he nipped in at one stage!
“Conor was really relaxed and in great humour but the bodyguards didn’t let him out of their sight for even a minute.
“Anyone who wanted a picture or a quick word with Conor had to go through the minders.
“He told people their names were Rocky and Drago and that he’d hired them because of death threats.”
A representative for McGregor did not return calls from the Irish Sun yesterday.
Conor is no stranger to controversy and was at the centre of an FBI probe earlier this year after he was targeted by sickos on social media.
The Crumlin brawler was left spooked when a troll tweeted a picture of someone holding an AK-47 and warned him to watch his back.
The thug posted: “@TheNotoriousMMA Be careful talking down on neighborhoods, you don’t run sh*t here except the UFC, and in the hood we use guns not fists this aint Ireland.”
UFC officials took swift action, getting their security team involved and alerting McGregor’s security team before contacting the FBI.
He was also protected by a team of guards during a 2014 Brazil trip.
Meanwhile, delighted Dee paid tribute to her adoring boyfriend following her win at Friday night’s fashion event.
McGregor looked on as his pretty missus was crowned Most Stylish Newcomer at the glitzy bash in Dublin’s Marker Hotel.
Afterwards, she posted on Instagram: “Thanks so much to everyone who voted for me I really appreciate it!! and as Conor would say.. “We’re not here to take part...!!!”
