Daenerys Targaryen is finally crossing over to Westeros to reclaim her crown, and a highly-anticipated encounter with fellow lead John Snow is on the cards.

McGregor is known to be a friend of Icelandic strongman Hafpor Julius Bjornsson, who plays The Mountain.

And the professional fighter could be set to lock horns with his gigantic counterpart in what would prove to be a thrilling encounter.

Before the news was confirmed, the producers of the show HBO were rumoured to be dead set on including him in the show.

A source told The Sunday Life via : “It’s been agreed that McGregor will appear in one of the remaining two seasons of Game of Thrones.

“He was headhunted as it were by HBO, as one of the Game of Thrones directors is a huge UFC fan. They believed that he would be a perfect fit for the show.”

McGregor has continued to steal the headlines in UFC after knocking out Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205.

Because after his victory, which made him the first two-weight champion, he announced he would take time out of UFC to spend time with his pregnant girlfriend.

The MMA superstar is said to be planning at least a year off after UFC 205 — but could then come back for “a mega money fight”.

His reason for taking time out of the octagon is because he feels it is the right time to settle down with long-term love Dee Devlin.

Devlin showed tremendous support to McGregor after backing him whilst he was on the doll and earning just £1,300 a year to fight for wins.

But after claiming BOTH the lightweight and featherweight title belts - UFC stripped him of the latter after nearly a year had gone by without him defending it.

Although McGregor seems reluctant to lose one of his two belts after he posted a video of himself holding them as he boarded a private jet.

He captioned the video on Instagram account with: "The m************ champ champ."

In a Q&A in Belfast with fans the fighter made it clear that he is determined not to part ways with his belt.

McGregor said: "They're trying to strip me

"Well, I ain't stripped. I still got that belt. That belt's sitting in my home right now. I'm still the two-weight world champion. Someone's got to come take that off me.

"I see articles. I see stuff online, but I don't see the belt not in my presence. The belt is right there. There's two world titles in my home

"I'll say to the UFC and I love the company — you're fooling nobody. You're fooling nobody with that. "Best of luck to them. I still got them belts. Somebody's got to come take them belts from me physically."

But as controversy rumbles on regarding the featherweight title, the UFC ace continues to get closer to securing a mega fight with Floyd Mayweather.

McGregor has secured a boxing license in the state of California as both camps discuss blockbuster showdown.

Rapper 50 Cent has also said that Mayweather wants to fight the UFC champ and claims White should call the retired boxer.

And with McGregor making the switch from the octagon to the ring, other boxers are calling him out.

With former world champion Pauli Malignaggi offering him a bout to see if he is ready to go toe to toe with Mayweather.
