Conor McGregor calls out Floyd Mayweather on Twitter, further stoking the fire ahead of eagerly-anticipated showdown

Irish UFC star sends a warning to American boxer after the Las Vegas man earlier claimed he would 'slap the s*** out of him'

CONOR McGREGOR has turned up the heat on the potential super-fight with Floyd Mayweather, taking to Twitter to say: I'm going to break his face.

The Irish UFC star's potential fight with the American boxing legend has caught the attention the world in recent months, with the war of verbals continuing deep into 2016.

Recently, Mayweather claimed: "I’m f***ing McGregor up. Punk-a** McGregor. I’m gonna slap McGregor.

"I’m gonna slap the s**t out of McGregor when I see him."

The pair have been embroiled in a war of words for months now as the hype surrounding the potential super-fight carries on deep into 2016.

McGregor recently obtained his boxing licence, with UFC president Dana White adamant the Irish ace would be far too much for Mayweather.

White said: "His [Mayweather’s] hands are like peanut brittle, he has to wrap them a million times so he doesn’t break his hands.

“Floyd better hope he don’t run into Conor on the street.

“Let me tell you what, not only with Conor kick his ass, he’ll kick the s**t out of everyone of his security guards too. 100 per cent.

"I would love to be there when Floyd tries to slap Conor McGregor.

"I promise you Floyd, you will never try to walk up and slap Conor McGregor and you know it too."

McGregor backed up that sentiment himself, saying: "I have the boxing licence.

“I wouldn’t go in there just to show up. I’d go in there to knock him (Mayweather) out.

“He can be hit. He’s been hit before. Age waits for no man, also. So I know they know that.

“I know the size, the reach and the youth is on my side. There’s a lot to lose for them. So that’s why they’re scrambling.

“But that’s OK. I’ve got some other boxing opportunities and potential opponents in mind, some previous Floyd opponents.

“I can bring in anyone in the game. We’ll see what happens.”
