Rio Olympics 2016: Heartbreak as Ethiopian runner loses her shoe before breaking down in tears after race

A ETHIOPIAN steeplechase runner broke down in tears after finishing her race with just one shoe at the Rio Olympics.
Etenesh Diro fell less than half way through the race losing her shoe but instead of wasting time sorting the problem she whipped her sock off and completed the race without it.
Diro was one of the favourites for a medal but she ultimately finished seventh out of 17 and will miss out on the semi-finals.
After the race she broke down in tears as other competitors comforted her on the track.
Although she lost her medal hopes, she certainly gained plenty of respect as the crowd gave her a standing ovation.
