TEAM GB stars pose for an epic selfie with an air hostess as they prepare for a heroes' welcome back home.

Rio sensations including triathlon king Alistair Brownlee, kayak gold winner Joe Clarke and rowing coxless ace Helen Glover clutched their medals on the flight bound for Blighty.

Britain re-established itself as a sporting superpower after finishing second in the medal table.

An amazing 67 gongs, which included 27 golds, marked Rio 2016 down as our most successful Olympics ever.

Theresa May led the salutes to our Team GB superstars as the Games ended.

She said: "Outstanding achievements from Mo Farah and Team GB. Rio will be remembered as a history-making Olympics for Britain."

And the Prime Minister's official spokeswoman then confirmed there would be no cap on the on the number of people allowed to be rewarded in the New Year’s Honours List.

The Games closed out in style last night with Rio's closing ceremony - but our heroes had been keeping themselves busy in the meantime by drawing pictures... though some should stick to the day job.

It was not all plane sailing however, as the European Parliament overlooked Great Britain's sole success by grouping the medal haul as part of a united Europe.
